Join PEC Heritage Conservancy member Jennifer Ploeger for a tour of Bloomfield’s Oldest Quaker Cemetery, located under tall pines, beside the creek, upstream from the Mill Pond. This tranquil setting holds the stories of Bloomfield’s earliest families: their interconnections and quiet founders, family rifts, tragic lives lost, and reluctant War of 1812 participants. The oldest dated gravestone is 1817; and some burials are marked by field stones, plain or simply incised. For context, Jennifer will discuss the Quaker beliefs and the evolution of the land and the markers used.
Jennifer is passionate about researching and recording the County’s historic cemeteries as a tangible link to the past, especially to the lives of humbler folk.

Parking: There is ample free parking on both sides of Bloomfield Main Street, near the Cemetery entrance. We recommend parking on Main Street, then a short walk into the cemetery. There is limited parking within the cemetery.
